MHP poultry meat production boosted 18 pct in 9M 2019

In 9M 2019, MHP’s increased poultry meat production by 18% to 540.13 thou. t (9M 2018: 458.54 thou. t).

Under the company's report, in 3Q 2019 MHP total poultry production volumes grew by 24% to 186.56 thou. t (3Q 2018: 150.65 thou. t). Production in this period was 2% higher vs. Q2 2019. (182.31 thou. t).

"The rise in the reporting period was mainly due to an increase in chicken production as a result of the expansion of phase two at Vinnytsya Poultry Complex," the company says in a statement.

In 3Q 2019, the volume of chicken exports decreased by 1% to 79.19 thou. t as compared to 3Q 2018 (80.36 thou. t). The company explains this by a decrease in Middle East sales.

MHP in 9M 2019 reduced chicken exports by 26% compared to 9M 2018 (213.93 thou. t) and reached 269.67 thou. t.

"MHP pursued its strategy of both geographical diversification and optimization of the food mix, directing the main volumes of chicken exports to the Middle East and the EU, Africa and Asia," the message reads.

The total chicken exports in 9M 2019 totalled close to 53%, compared to 48% in 9M 2018 of total chicken sales.
