Ukraine's ag commodities export to EU surged 37 pct

In the period of Sep. 2018–Aug. 2019, Ukraine increased its supply of agricultural products to the European Union by almost 37% (EUR 1.921 bln) to EUR 6.995 bln, the European Commission reports.

"The volume of agricultural and food imports in August 2019 vs. August 2018 increased most from Ukraine (to EUR 198 mln, by 10%) and Canada (to EUR 74 mln, by 57%). Ukraine and the U.S. also showed the highest growth in exports to the EU on an annual basis from September 2018 to August 2019. Among the most major areas of European imports from third countries for 12 months were the U.S. (EUR 12.4 bln), Brazil (EUR 11.8 bln), Ukraine (EUR 7 bln), followed by China (EUR 6.1 bln) and Argentina (EUR 5.2 bln)," the report reads.

In the EU's total trade statistics for agricultural products with third countries, Ukraine was ranked 16th as a consumer of European imports with a value of EUR 2.278 bln from September 2018 to August 2019 (an increase of EUR 295 mln compared to last year), and 3rd in the export of Ukrainian products to the EU with a value of EUR 6.089 bln for the same period (an increase of EUR 1.921 bln compared to the same period in 2017-18).

IGC analysts in their October report increased the forecast for world corn exports in 2019/20 from 164.6 mln t to 167.5 mln t, 1.7% higher from the previous season (164.7 mln t).
