Ascet Shipping cargo handling in Mykolaiv up 70 pct

Since the start of the 2019/20 season, the stevedoring company Ascet Shipping increased cargo handling in the port of Mykolaiv by 70% vs. the comparative period of 2018/19 (July–Oct.).

"Last year, in July-October, we handled about 370 thou. t of cargo. If we sum up our volumes since the beginning of 2019/20, there is the growth of more than 70% compared to last year's period. The work continues, we receive cargoes. We have set new records in terms of cargo handling speed and storage capacity turnover. In August, we managed to double warehouse turnover, it's about 190 thou. t of wheat. In September the company proceeded 1400 cars," said the director of the Mykolaiv branch Kirill Palivoda.

According to the report, the nomenclature of cargo in July-October 2019 is formed by wheat and sunflower meal.

Cargo shipment of Ascet Shipping clients was carried out on Handysize, Panamax and Supramax class bulk carriers. The SSP Nika-Tera and Eurovneshtorg grain terminal (EVT) provided for the company's cargo transshipment to these vessels.

Previously reported that EVT started handling a new type of vessels — Panamax. In October of the current year, two such vessels entered the loading dock. These are the largest bulk carriers in size that the terminal has been receiving since its launch.
