Deutsche Bahn and Ukrzaliznytsia to sign Memorandum of Cooperation in Davos — MP

The largest German railway operator Deutsche Bahn and Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ) are to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation in Davos at the World Economic Forum. This was announced by the Head of the Transport Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Parliament) Aleksandr Skichko.

"A large-scale project of cooperation between Ukrzaliznytsia and Deutsche Bahn, the largest German railway operator, is being developed. I want to stress that this is not privatization or concession. It is about involving German experts, experience, managerial and technological solutions. We very much hope that this cooperation will give UZ a new impulse and help get out of the current state of degradation," said Aleksandr Skichko.

However, he stressed that it would take some time for these changes to happen.

"Tomorrow (Jan.22 – ed.) we leave for Davos to receive good news about the Memorandum signed with Deutsche Bahn," added the Head of the Transport Committee.

As a reminder, the wear of Ukrainian railway infrastructure exceeds 70% (the upper structure of the track, alarm and automation means, contact group, etc.).
