Prime Minister Shmyhal supported land market opening, subject to conditions observance

The land market must be open primarily for the citizens of Ukraine, and the question of selling land to foreigners must be resolved at a referendum. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on the 1+1 TV channel.

He stressed that he was a supporter of the market economy, not the authoritarian, socialist or Soviet model.

"I'm an advocate of the land market being open first of all to Ukrainians. Of a civilized land market, which would give an impetus to agricultural production and economic development in Ukraine. The option of selling land to foreigners or foreign companies should be decided only at an all-Ukrainian referendum. Every Ukrainian should have the right to sell land owned as private property at a market price, not for a penny. This is a legal right of every Ukrainian. It is a right, not an obligation," noted Denys Shmyhal.

According to him, this law gives Ukrainians the right to dispose of their land.

"Until then, it was a robbery: the Ukrainians leased what was worth treasure for nothing. We want to give the Ukrainians the right to sell the land," concluded the Prime Minister.

As a reminder, a new legislative project on the land market will be prepared for residents of the occupied territories of Donbas, but only after the region is de-occupied.
