A.G.R. Group completed sowing campaign

Agricultural holding A.G.R. Group, which operates in four regions of Ukraine, has completed the spring sowing campaign 2020 on an area of 28.8 thou. ha.

In the current production season, the company focused on soybean and corn production. Sown areas by crops:

  • corn: 21.07 thou. ha
  • soybean: 7.22 thou. ha
  • corn for silage: 240 ha

A.G.R. Group sowing campaign started as planned in all four company's production clusters. 11 machinery units were used including the recently purchased equipment. All the enterprises were fully supplied with technical and material resources necessary for successful completion of the sowing campaign: fertilizers, crop protection products, seeds, etc.

The company noted that despite the current situation in the world resulting from COVID-19 epidemic and quarantine restrictions, the sowing campaign was successful.

"We sowed in the required agro-technical terms when the soil was sufficiently warm. The optimum time for corn sowing is when the soil temperature at a depth of 5-10 cm reaches 8-10 °C, and for soybeans 12-14 °C. Due to weather conditions, every day of delayed corn sowing means a 1% drop in yields. So we decided not to delay with the start of sowing. The campaign was also completed according to our plans," said Alexander Arakelyan, A.G.R. chief agronomist.

Chairman of the board of A.G.R. Group Ihor Shestopalov noted that in any case, Ukraine will harvest a good crop, despite the challenges agrarians face this season.

As of May 21, early spring grain, leguminous and industrial crops in Ukraine were sown on an area of 14.87 mln ha or 96% of the planned 15.56 mln ha.
