Bill Gates reveals reason for crop land major purchase in US
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates explained why he had bought much farmland in the US during another “ask me anything” meet-and-greet on Reddit, Futurism writes.
“My investment group chose to do this,” he wrote. “It is not connected to climate.”
“The agriculture sector is important,” he continued. “With more productive seeds we can avoid deforestation and help Africa deal with the climate difficulty they already face.”
Bill Gates also noted the importance of biofuels and their potential to help cut down on engine emissions.
“It is unclear how cheap biofuels can be but if they are cheap it can solve the aviation and truck emissions,” Gates wrote.
Gates meant that investment in crop land was purely financial yet he saw ways for it to help the environment, Futurism comments.
