Buckwheat import from Kazakhstan rushed 3.4x in February
Kazakhstan exported 1.7 thou. t of buckwheat to Ukraine in February, 3.1x higher month-on-month and 3.4x higher YoY. February import was also the highest monthly volume in the past four seasons, the APK-Inform consultancy writes with reference to the data of the Bureau of national statistics of the Agency for strategic planning and reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Ukraine has been the main buyer of buckwheat from Kazakhstan for the past 4 seasons, having imported 7.4 thou. t of this crop since the start of the current season (shipments increased by 1.37x YoY).
Ukraine's share in the total buckwheat export from Kazakhstan is 93.5%.
"Kazakhstan exported a total of 7.9 thou. t of buckwheat in July-February 2020/21, 1.4x higher from the comparative period in 2019/20 and it is an all-time record," the message reads.
As reported, Kazakhstan also supplied buckwheat to Turkey (0.4 thou. t) and Poland (0.14 thou. t).
Previously reported that staple grains export shipment from Ukraine has reached 35.67 mln t since the start of the 2020/21 season. As of Apr. 2, agricultural commodities shipment dropped by 10.61 mln t or 23% YoY.
