Winter grains sowing launched in 7 regions of Ukraine

Winter grains sowing has started in seven regions of Ukraine, including Vinnytsya, Donetsk, Kyiv, Luhansk, Poltava, Sumy and Chernihiv regions, the Agrarian Ministry reports.

As of September 6, winter crops planting was completed on 54.8 thou. ha, 1% of the projected area (7.84 mln ha):

  • winter wheat: 53.7 thou. ha, 1% of 6.68 mln ha
  • winter barley: 0.4 thou. ha of 1.02 mln ha
  • winter rye: 0.7 thou. ha of 160.65 thou. ha

Winter rapeseed sowing was 60% completed on 621 thou. ha of the planned 1.03 mln ha. This oilseed crop sowing was finalized in Vinnytsya, Volyn and Rivne regions. The campaign is close to completion in Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Poltava, Sumy and Cherkasyy regions.

The new crop campaign in Ukraine was completed on 64% of the projected area as of 2 Sep. The average yield of early grains and leguminous crops reached 4.39 t/ha.
