Grain stocks 40% higher by Sep. 1: state statistics

Grains and pulses stocks in Ukraine as of 1 September amounted to 24.2 mln t, 40% or 6.97 mln t up YoY (Sept. 1, 2020: 17.2 mln t), the State Statistics Service data shows.

Wheat stocks as of the reporting date made up 17.7 mln t, flat YoY. At the enterprises engaged in storage and processing, grain reserves amounted to 5.34 mln t, and at agricultural producers' facilities 12.36 mln t.

Under the statistical data, corn stocks were 11% up from last year's and amounted to 1.25 mln t (Sept. 1, 2020: 1.13 mln t), including 965.6 thou. t accumulated by agricultural producers, and 281.4 thou. t at enterprises engaged in storage and processing.

Barley stocks in Ukraine in the reporting period increased by 36% from last year's and amounted to 3.56 mln t: at the enterprises engaged in storage and processing, stocks of barley amounted to 993.1 thou. t, and at agricultural producers' facilities 2.54 mln t.

Rye stocks grew by 2.4x and made up 335.6 thou. t: 133.2 thou. t at specialized storage facilities and 202.4 thou. t at agricultural producers' storages.

The new crop progress in Ukraine as of Sept. 16 came to 45.7 mln t of grains and legumes on 10.4 mln ha. The average yield made up 4.39 t/ha.
