HarvEast lost 200 thou. t of grain in russia's occupation of eastern Ukraine

HarvEast Holding management announced that russia stole up to 200 thou. t of grain from the company's assets located in temporarily occupied eastern regions of Ukraine, Bloomberg reports.

Based on information available to the company, 50,000 t of crops was plundered from HarvEast warehouses by russian grain trucks. The grain was then delivered to russia, including from the villages of Mangush and Mykilske on the outskirts of Mariupol. Another nearly 150 thou. t was harvested in the fields not controlled by the company any longer.

It is noted that the combined volume of stolen grain would fill about three Panamax bulk vessels.

"The biggest loss is this year's new crop. In June, they started to harvest our grain, and we have no access to this farmland," says Dmitriy Skornyakov, HarvEast CEO.

He added that HarvEast's farmland is located close to russia's border, therefore the grain is most likely trucked there.

The company's assets are located in Donetsk, Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions.

Since the start of russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, the occupants plundered hundreds of thousands of grain from Ukraine and attempted to export it. One of the countries that accepted it was Syria.
