Winter crops area in Ukraine may shrink 30-60%

State support and increasing agricultural commodities exports from Ukraine are crucial for the country's producers ahead of the autumn planting campaign. Without these two factors, winter crops area for the 2023 harvest may drop by 30-60%, stated Roman Slaston, the director general at UCAB.

"We have high hopes that the government will find a way to finance the sowing season. If it is not done now, we will have serious consequences. Without such programs, without revenues and increased exports, winter crops may not be sown on 30-60% of the areas," he marked.

As of August 11, early crops were collected on 49% of the areas in Ukraine. The average yield stood at 3.81 t/ha.

Winter crops sowing has already started in several regions of Ukraine.
