Ukraine and Poland discuss pipeline construction for sunflower oil export

Ukraine and Poland agreed on the construction of a pipeline for the transit of Ukrainian vegetable oil to the Polish port of Gdańsk.

The two countries will jointly develop the project of the cross-border pipeline, Biznes Interia reports.

The Polish side agreed to sign a memorandum with Ukraine on the development of the project. It will be concluded for three years with an automatic extension for another three.

Both countries will form a working group, which will present potential options for the project.

"The implementation of the memorandum will contribute to the unblocking of Ukrainian exports and increase food security in developing countries faced with famine. Consequently, it should reduce migration pressure on Europe," the message reads.

In March-July 2021/22, over 1 mln t of sunflower oil was exported from Ukraine, 46% down YoY.
