Grain Alliance to support Ukrainian producers in grain exports to EU

Grain Alliance (Baryshivska Grain Company) grain storage in Čierna nad Tisou, Slovakia, is one of the early experiences of Ukrainian agribusiness in the organization of uninterrupted transshipment of grain through elevators in Europe. In several months, about 70 thou. t of grain have been transshipped by the facility.

President of Grain Alliance Yevgeny Radovenyuk admitted at the meeting held in Bratislava on September 19 that investors and partners, such as the EBRD, are committed to investing in the development of logistics routes that have no dependence on the weather or otherwise.

"You know that we bought the elevator, unused and out of operation for 8 years. But with our efforts, on June 20, it received the first grain and is successfully working, gradually increasing the pace of transshipment. During this period, we managed to ship about 70 thou. t of grain to Europe. This project is profitable not only for us, for Ukraine. We have already paid EUR 3 mln in taxes in Slovakia," he announced.

The mayor of Černá nad Tysou, Marta Vozárikova, and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Ingrid Brocková, discussed facilitating the capacity expansion of the elevator, where two new silos are to be installed.

The management of Baryshivska Grain Company announced that once an uninterrupted route to the new elevator is established by the Ukrainian railroad, the company will help Ukrainian producers to transport grain to Europe.

Grain Alliance first announced the purchase of an asset in Slovakia in May.
