Producers in Ukraine planted 85% of winter crops

Winter grains sowing in Ukraine has covered 4.1 mln ha, 85% of the planned areas, as of late October (2021: 7.09 mln ha, 90%).

Winter rapeseed planting for the 2023 harvest exceeded the planned areas. The crop covers 999 thou. ha, 104% of the proj. area (2021: 1.019 mln ha, 99%), the Agrarian Ministry reports.

Planting progress by crops:

  • wheat: 3.5 mln ha, 87% (2021: 6.089 mln ha, 91%)
  • barley: 507 thou. ha, 75% (844.23 thou. ha, 83%)
  • rye: 78 thou. ha, 92% (156.89 thou. ha, 98%)

Winter wheat planting in Ukraine

In the week of October 24-30, winter grains were planted on 449 thou. ha. Agricultural producers of Odesa region planted 108 thou. ha over the past week.

Winter crops area in 2022/23 is projected to decrease in Ukraine.
