Türkiye suggests grain deal extended for a year

Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar announced the intention to propose the extension of the 'grain deal' for a year, Hürriyet reports.

The publication cites Akar's statement, in which he says that Ukraine provided a written guarantee to russia via Türkiye.

"We spoke about the conflict and humanitarian conditions. Mediated by Türkiye, Ukraine provided a written guarantee to russia. We will propose to extend the agreement for 12 months," the minister said.

The first phase of the 'grain deal' expires on 19 November.

Previously Reuters reported that russia sought sanctions ease on state agriculture lender Rosselkhozbank to facilitate Russian grain and fertilizer exports.
