Four regions in Ukraine done with winter crops planting

Winter grains sowing in Ukraine has covered 4.3 mln ha, 85% of the planned areas, as of November 7 (2021: 7.33 mln ha, 94%).

Four regions of Ukraine — Vinnytsya, Kyiv, Ternopil and Chernivtsi — have completed winter crops planting for the 2023 harvest. Fieldwork is close to the end in Zhytomyr, Polvata, Khmelnytsky and Chernihiv regions.

Winter rapeseed planting for the 2023 harvest exceeded the planned areas. The crop covers 999 thou. ha, 104% of the proj. area (2021: 1.019 mln ha, 99%), the Agrarian Ministry reports.

Planting progress by crops:

  • wheat: 3.6 mln ha, 91% (2021: 6.248 mln ha, 94%)
  • barley: 568 thou. ha, 84% (924.35 thou. ha, 91%)
  • rye: 79 thou. ha, 92% (158.49 thou. ha, 99%)

In the week of October 31-November 6, winter grains were planted on 228 thou. ha. Agricultural producers of Odesa region planted 108 thou. ha over the past week.

Winter crops area in 2022/23 is projected to decrease in Ukraine.
