Polish PKP LHS allows Ukraine farm products shipment in non-specialized railcars

Polish company PKP LHS announced the cancellation of the convention on the transportation of grain cargoes in cement, mineral fertilizer and open railcars, Rail.insider reports.

"PKP LHS LLC informs about the termination of the convention No. 22 of 02.11.2022 concerning HSN 10, HSN 12, HSN 14 (codes according to the harmonized nomenclature of goods – ed.) for food purposes in cement (93), mineral fertilizer (92), open railcars (60) with destination to all stations," the message reads.

Every tenth ton of Ukrainian grain is transported in non-specialized railcars, the publication estimates.

The new rules came into force on November 18.

The problem occurred in early November following complaints from sanitary services. As a result, more than 500 Ukrainian railcars got stuck on the Polish border.
