Crop progress in Ukraine: 13% of corn remains unharvested, sunflower yields 10.5 mln t
Grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine yielded 51.9 mln t on 11 mln ha, which is 95% of the planned area (2021: 98%, 24.48 mln ha) as of January 19, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reports. The average yield of crops as of the reporting date was 4.73 t/ha (2021: 5.36 t/ha).
Production by crops:
- wheat: 20.2 mln t on 5 mln ha (100%), avg. yield 4.05 t/ha
- barley: 5.8 mln t on 1.7 mln ha (100%), avg. yield 3.47 t/ha
- rapeseed: 3.2 mln t on 1.1 mln ha (100%), avg. yield 2.86 t/ha
- peas: 269 thou. t on 118 thou. ha (100%), avg. yield 2.28 t/ha
- millet: 101.8 thou. t on 44.7 thou. ha (99%), avg. yield 2.28 t/ha
- buckwheat: 158.5 thou. t on 116 thou. ha (98%), avg. yield 1.37 t/ha
- sunflower: 10.5 mln t on 4.8 mln ha (99%), avg. yield 2.17 t/ha
- corn: 24.4 mln t on 3.7 mln ha (87%), avg. yield 6.61 t/ha
- soybean: 3.7 mln t on 1.5 mln ha (100%), avg. yield 2.43 t/ha
- sugar beet: 9 mln t on 180.5 thou. ha (100%), avg. yield 50.1 t/ha
The highest yield of grains and legumes was produced in Khmelnysky region — 7.08 t/ha. Producers in Vinnytsya region harvested over 4 mln t of new crop.
Farms in Mykolaiv, Odesa, Cherkasy, Vinnytsya and Ternopil regions have completed the new crop campaign. Volyn, Zakarpattya and Ivano-Frankivsk regions are about to finalize collecting grains and oilseeds.
USDA projects wheat output in Ukraine in 2022/23 at 21 mln t, corn at 27 mln t, and sunflower at 10 mln t.
