Agricultural sector among priority areas in Ukraine's recovery: President Zelenskyy
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced three priorities for the recovery of the country and the economy. These include cybersecurity, energy, and agriculture.
According to Zelenskyy, the primary focus is the energy sector. In particular, the Ukrainian government intends to make it more diverse.
"It's not just about natural gas and electricity generated by nuclear power plants. We are convinced it is also crucial to develop the ability to diversify energy production and storage. These are new technologies that I want to work on together with the US and Europe. It's electric batteries we need to build," the President said in an interview with Welt.
The second priority is agricultural development. Ukraine needs to involve partners in the advancement of irrigation and related logistics. In addition, according to Zelenskyy, new grain hubs should be created in the EU, Africa, and Asia.
"It is the huge hubs where we can deliver and then store wheat, corn and all other crops grown in Ukraine. When these hubs are ready, we will be able to ship our commodities there. We have already talked to several African countries about this, and they approve of the idea of building grain hubs. Here, we rely on our partners in the EU as this requires significant investments. Protection measures in the drinking water sector are equally important," the President explained.
The third priority is to enhance cybersecurity, as the terrorist state russia is persistently attacking Ukraine.
