The annual infographic report "Ukraine's Agribusiness in Wartime" covering the 2021/22 season has been completed. It reveals how the war affected the key indicators of the agricultural sector and what trends are observed by industry in the first year of the Great War. The report is now available for free download.

Over the years of independence, Ukraine has become a prominent player in the global food market. This has become even more pronounced after the start of russia's full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022.

This year's edition of "Agribusiness in Ukraine" contains 33 pages of infographics grouped into the following categories: agribusiness in times of war, crop production, livestock farming, processing industry, infrastructure and services, as well as finances.

Issues covered in the report:

  1. The state of the agricultural sector before February 24, 2022.
  2. Forecasts for MY 2021/22 and post-invasion environment.
  3. Industry challenges in wartime.

"Last season was meant to be a record-breaking one for the Ukrainian agricultural sector and further strengthen our position, but in February, russia destroyed everything. Despite this, Ukraine's brave agrarians have shown the world their resilience and readiness to provide food for all. This is proven by the results of the year: 67 million tons of grains and oilseeds was harvested as of late December, and agricultural exports in 2022 totalled USD 23.4 billion, which represents 53% of total exports," comments Alyona Dyachenko, Head of the Latifundist Media project and analytics department.

She adds that the guide will become a practical analytical tool for the international community to support Ukraine even more and particularly agriproducers.

"This report explains how and why Ukrainian agrarians survived in 2022. Traditionally, in infographics and with tons of useful and exclusive data, it demonstrates the transformation of agribusiness into new forms. It also shows the prospects for companies that have found ways to overcome this year's challenges: through changes in strategy, new directions, and the formation of sustainable business models," comments Stanislav Shum, CEO of Top Lead.

Natalia Porvina, Head of Agribusiness Support Department at Credit Agricole Bank, noted that the bank is an eight-year partner of this project and actively participates in the processing of analytics and content creation.

"Plant – harvest, fight – win" is not only the title of this year's report but is also our everyday routine. As a strategic partner for agribusiness, we continue to create additional value for our customers and the industry as a whole by sharing our expertise with market participants. In times of war, it is more important than ever to have access to up-to-date and reliable information and market analytics. We continue to support our customers and finance the industry, as agribusiness is one of the key areas of development for Credit Agricole and the country itself. Together we are stronger!" Natalia Porvina remarks.
