russia suggests grain deal extended for half shorter term

russia does not object to the extension of the Black Sea grain deal, but only for a period of 60 days. This statement was made following negotiations between UN representatives and russia today in Geneva, Switzerland, Reuters reports.

russian deputy foreign minister sergei vershinin held talks with UN officials.

"Our further stance will be determined upon tangible progress on normalization of our agricultural exports, not in words, but in deeds," he added.

On 7 March, Ukraine conducted online negotiations with its partners — the UN and Turkey — to extend the grain deal. It is due to expire on 18 March.

Ukrainian business called on the United Nations and Turkey to ensure free trade navigation in the Black Sea and to extend the grain deal for 12 months, including Mykolaiv port in the list of agreed harbours.
