Alexander Kamyshin appointed minister for strategic industries of Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Parliament) appointed Alexander Kamyshin, the Chairman of the state-run railway company Ukrzaliznytsia, as Minister for Strategic Industries. This was supported by 312 MPs, LIGA.net reports.

This post was previously held by Pavlo Riabikin. The Verkhovna Rada voted to dismiss him on 20 March.

The Ministry for Strategic Industries of Ukraine focuses on:

  • bringing Ukrainian legislation in line with EU legislation,
  • ensuring the functioning of the product certification system in the defence industry in accordance with NATO standards,
  • participation in arranging state and other tests of weapons and military equipment,
  • facilitating the attraction of domestic and foreign investments in the development of strategic industries,
  • coordination of space activities in Ukraine and under the jurisdiction of Ukraine abroad.

Alexander Kamyshin chaired Ukrzaliznytsia Board from October 2021 to March 2023.
