Winter wheat and rapeseed planting covers over 2 million hectares by September 25

All regions of Ukraine are planting winter crops for the 2024 harvest. As of September 25, farms planted 2.18 mln ha of winter grains and oilseeds.

Sown areas by crops:

  • winter rapeseed 1.04 mln ha, 85%
  • winter wheat 1.02 mln ha, 24%
  • winter barley 74 thou. ha, 11%
  • winter rye 42 thou. ha, 52%

As reported by the Ministry of Agriculture, in the previous week, winter crops were sown on 556 thou. ha.

Growers in Volyn, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil and Chernivtsi regions have completed sowing winter rapeseed.

Sumy region planted 50% of the projected area of grains — 25.9 thou. ha. Winter rapeseed was 74.4% planted (93.4 thou. ha) in Dnipropetrovsk region.

For the 2023 harvest winter crops area in Ukraine totalled 5.7 mln ha. For 2024 it is projected at 6.34 mln ha.
