Winter crops planting in Ukraine crosses one million hectares by September 11

All regions of Ukraine except Zakarpattia have joined the winter crops planting campaign. As of September 11, farms planted 1.15 mln ha of winter grains and oilseeds.

Sown areas by crops:

  • winter rapeseed 905.9 thou. ha
  • winter wheat 228.6 thou. ha
  • winter barley 10.8 thou. ha
  • winter rye 9.5 thou. ha

As reported by the Ministry of Agriculture, in the previous week, winter rapeseed planting covered 251 thou. ha, and winter grains 204 thou. ha.

Growers in Volyn, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil and Chernivtsi regions have completed sowing winter rapeseed.

Sumy region planted 50% of the projected area of grains — 25.9 thou. ha. Winter rapeseed was 74.4% planted (93.4 thou. ha) in Dnipropetrovsk region.

For the 2023 harvest winter crops area in Ukraine totalled 5.7 mln ha.
