Winter crops planting in Ukraine progresses to 85%

Winter crops planting is nearing completion in Ukraine. In the week of October 30-November 5, growers in Chernihiv and Chernivtsi region finalized the campaign. So far, seven regions have planted the planned area of winter grains and rapeseed, the Agriculture Ministry reports.

As of November 6, farms in Ukraine planted 5.53 million hectares of winter crops for the 2024 harvest, 85.5% of the projected area.

Sown areas by crops:

  • winter rapeseed 1.14 mln ha, 94%
  • winter wheat 3.86 mln ha, 89%
  • winter barley 442 thou. ha, 64%
  • winter rye 76 thou. ha, 94%

Producers planted 175 thou. hectares of winter crops last week.

For the 2023 harvest winter crops area in Ukraine totalled 5.7 mln ha. For 2024 it is projected at 6.34 mln ha.
