Ukraine's winter crops 91% planted, 10 regions complete planting

Winter crops planting which was halted by the soil drought in most regions is nearing completion in Ukraine. Most regions have planted over 90% of the planned area of winter grains and rapeseed, the Agriculture Ministry reports.

As of November 20, farms in Ukraine planted 5.76 million hectares of winter crops for the 2024 harvest, 91% of the projected area.

Sown areas by crops:

  • winter rapeseed 1.16 mln ha, 96%
  • winter wheat 4.02 mln ha, 92%
  • winter barley 505.7 thou. ha, 73%
  • winter rye 77.1 thou. ha, 95%

Producers planted 90.7 thou. hectares of winter crops last week.

For the 2023 harvest winter crops area in Ukraine totalled 5.7 mln ha. For 2024 it is projected at 6.34 mln ha.
