Ukrainian farmers harvest nearly half of sunflower acreage, crop below 5 mln t so far

As of September 26, growers in Ukraine harvested 30.4 million tons of grains, with 63% of the planted area threshed, the Ministry of Economy reported.

Specifically:

• wheat — 22.5 mln t harvested (completed), average yield 4.5 t/ha;

• barley — 5.3 mln t (completed), 3.96 t/ha;

• peas — 626.6 mln t (completed), 2.36 t/ha;

• corn — 964.2 mln t (5%), 4.92 t/ha.

Soybean harvest reached 1.5 million tons (35%) with an average yield of 2.02 t/ha, while sunflower harvest stands at 4.1 million tons (44%) with yields of 1.84 t/ha.

Growers have also dug up 1.4 million tons of sugar beets (15%) with yields of 49 t/ha. Rapeseed harvest totalled 3.3 million tons, with 101% of the planted area threshed and average yields of 2.59 t/ha.
