OKKO completes first stage of bioethanol plant, to launch next year

OKKO Group has completed construction of the first stage of its bioethanol plant, the company’s CEO Vasyl Danyliak said during the Kyiv International Economic Forum, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

“We have built the silo section and completed the construction work for the main building of a large bioethanol plant. We plan to commission it next year,” he said.

The plant will process 200,000–250,000 tons of corn annually, with a total production capacity of 85,000 tons of bioethanol per year. The plant will also produce animal feed from distillers’ grains.

OKKO also plans to commission its first wind power plant, Ivanichy WPP (147 MW) in Volyn region, by late 2025 or early 2026.

“On one hand, the war is a great tragedy that exposed many weaknesses across different sectors, including energy. Large Soviet-era facilities turned out to be vulnerable. That’s why the government and the Energy Ministry set a course for decentralized generation — and that’s absolutely the right decision. At that time, we had a shrinking fuel market, so we decided to move into related sectors,” Danyliak added.

In June 2024, the company announced it had started developing a concept for a large biodiesel plant. In May 2025, OKKO completed the purchase of 17,000 hectares of farmland, expanding its land bank to 50,000 hectares.
