OKKO and Gadz-Agro to build biomethane plant in Ternopil region
OKKO and Gadz-Agro will build a biomethane plant in Ternopil region, according to ExPro.
Public consultations on the construction project have already begun. The project will be implemented by Sokoliv Energy.
The company was registered in Lviv in December 2025 and specialises in gas production. Gadz-Agro is the founder of the company, while the beneficiaries include Petro Gadz (50%) and Vitalii Antonov (47.89%).
The project involves constructing a complex of production and auxiliary facilities integrated into a single biomethane production process. The produced gas is planned to be transported to gas distribution or transmission networks.
According to LIGA.Business, the complex will be built near the village of Sokoliv in the Zolotyi Potik territorial community (formerly Buchach district) in Ternopil region.
According to the project documentation, the complex will have the capacity of 13.7 million cubic meters of biogas and 3.84 million cubic meters of biomethane annually. The estimated production capacity will amount to 960 cubic meters of biogas per hour or 525 cubic meters of biomethane per hour. The project also includes annual electricity generation of nearly 15 million kWh.
The plant will use cattle manure, corn and rye silage, grain waste, and the liquid fraction of digestate as feedstock. Total annual feedstock demand is expected to exceed 130,000 tons.
The complex will operate around the clock throughout the year in two shifts, creating 51 jobs.
In June 2024, OKKO announced that it had started developing the concept for a large biodiesel plant.
