Upgraded intermodal terminal opens in Zakarpattia with over UAH 120 million invested
An upgraded Eurobridge intermodal terminal has begun operations in Ukraine’s Zakarpattia region. The facility provides cross-border rail freight services, logistically connecting Ukraine with Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania, according to Viktor Mykyta, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
He said that investments exceeding UAH 120 million by Germany’s Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), in partnership with the Ukrainian investment fund Fortior Capital, will make it possible to handle traffic of around 100,000 containers per year as early as this year, with further expansion planned.
Mykyta added that dozens of new jobs with competitive wages have been created at the terminal, while the company generates millions of hryvnias in revenues for the local budget.
The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine approved the acquisition of a controlling stake in the terminal by the German company in August 2025.
