Agroton expands land bank in Kharkiv region, acquiring Kernel assets

Agroton Public Limited has filed an application with the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine seeking approval to acquire the Agricultural limited liability company “Mriia” from the agricultural holding Kernel, according to the AMCU’s draft agenda.

“On the results of the review of application No. 15-01/215-ЕКк dated February 2, 2026, regarding the granting of permission to Agroton Public Limited (Nicosia, Cyprus) to acquire control over LLC ‘Mriia’ through direct ownership of shares ensuring more than 50% of voting rights in the company’s highest governing body,” the statement reads.

According to our market sources, the deal involves 14,000 hectares of land.

Data from YouControl indicate that the ultimate beneficiary of “Mriia” is Andriy Verevskyi, founder of Kernel.

Agroton lost its entire land bank (110,000 hectares) following the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. After acquiring land from Agroprosperis in 2025, the company’s land bank stood at 7,500 hectares. The new deal will increase Agroton’s land bank to 21,500 hectares.

UPDATED. The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has granted permission for Agroton to acquire “Mriia.”

Kernel commented on the deal to Latifundist.com, stating that the sale of assets in Kharkiv region is part of the company’s long-term strategy to concentrate its land bank in key regions.

“We are indeed currently in the process of a transaction with Agroton—our long-standing partner and regular supplier of agricultural products. The deal framework includes a fully operational business. The agricultural M&A market is dynamic, so we continuously monitor it to further optimize our land bank and remain open to such decisions when we see economic rationale,” said Mykhailo Yavorskyi, Associate Director for Corporate Investments at Kernel.
