Agrovista installs energy storage system at dairy farm, with payback expected in about three years
Ukragrocom, part of the Agrovista Group of Companies, has installed a 648 kW energy storage system with a capacity of 1.29 MWh at its dairy farm. The project is expected to pay for itself in about three years, YASNO said, whose team implemented the turnkey project.
The company’s electricity consumption is about 200 MWh per month.
Based on the farm’s load profile, the company selected an energy storage system with a capacity of 648 kW and 1,290 kWh. The equipment was installed on the premises of the operating farm without interrupting its core production processes.
The system stores electricity and allows it to be used for the company’s needs during designated periods. In particular, the energy storage system is expected to help reduce grid load during peak hours and keep equipment running when external power supplies are restricted.
For a livestock complex, an uninterrupted power supply is essential for ventilation, water supply, lighting, milking, cooling and product storage systems.
“For businesses with continuous and significant electricity consumption, energy storage systems are becoming a practical tool for managing their own energy systems. Such solutions allow companies to use electricity more flexibly, maintain the stability of production processes and better control costs,” YASNO CEO Serhii Kovalenko said.
The project was financed with the assistance of Sense Bank. According to the company’s calculations, the investment is expected to pay back in about three years.
“The implementation of this project has become not only a technological but also an economically justified solution for Agrovista,” said Pavlo Fesiuk, chief financial officer of the Agrovista Group.
He said the installation of the energy storage system should both improve the company’s energy resilience and generate an economic return on the investment.
