MHP gets approval to acquire Agrol Plus asset — Ukraine’s competition authority

Ukraine’s Antimonopoly Committee (AMCU) has approved MHP’s acquisition of control over one of Agrol Plus assets in Lviv region. The regulator approved the transaction on Aug. 27.

The AMCU had previously opened a case to review the concentration following MHP’s plans to acquire from the Lviv-based company Agrol a poultry slaughtering and processing facility.

According to Forbes Ukraine, the asset is estimated to be worth at least $5 million.

In early January, MHP applied to the Antimonopoly Committee for approval to acquire part of Agrol’s assets. At the time, the company said the deal concerned only the acquisition of a poultry slaughtering and processing facility and related assets and did not involve the takeover of the entire Agrol company.

Under the terms of the deal, MHP is to acquire the processing unit through a separate legal entity that owns the slaughtering and processing assets. Poultry production facilities and poultry houses are not included in the transaction.
