Ukrzaliznytsya in January-September increased grain transportation by 28%

Ukrzaliznytsya transported 27.4 million tons of grain cargo in January-September, which is 28% more than during the same period a year earlier.

This is reported by the press service.

As noted by Anatoly Mumrenko, the acting director of the department of commercial activity, 1/3 of grain hopper cars in Ukraine (5.2 thousand units) belongs to private owners. This year only their number increased by more than 2.9 thousand. In the operating fleet of Ukrzaliznytsya, there are currently 10.8 thousand grain hopper cars and next year the company plans to update 700 units.

"Today the number of cars is not the issue, but the efficiency of their use, provision of locomotives, the quality of planning and the formation of orders for transportation in accordance with the processing and throughput of access roads," said Anatoly Mumrenko.

According to him, the situation is complicated by the increase in the number of stations and fronts of loading grain cargo, which requires more traction and shunting means.
