Gross harvest of potatoes in 2017 is projected to amount to 21.9 million tons, which exceeds last year's volume by 0.5%.
This is reported by the GolosUA.
It is noted that more than 98% of the crop was grown in the private households.
"According to balance calculations, in 2017 6.3 million tons of potatoes can be directed for food consumption, which makes about 148.2 kg per person, while a rational rate is 124 kg," the economists note.
Import and export of potatoes is expected in small volumes (up to 15 thousand tons), and will not cause a significant impact on supply and demand in the domestic market.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine in January-August 2017 exported 11.28 thousand tons of potatoes for US$ 2.72 million.
