MHP plans to increase the capacity for alternative energy production up to 40 MW

The company Myronivsky Hliboproduct (MHP) plans to increase its own alternative energy production capacity up to 40 MW and within 5 years to become energy-independent.

Answering the question from Latifundist.comYury Kosyuk, the owner of the company, said that this would be achieved through the development of two areas: the work of two biogas plants and the installation of solar panels.

"This will be a unique project for the processing of chicken manure, which will be not only the largest in Ukraine, but also in the world. And its main component is ecological compatibility. First, we solve the problem of poultry waste recycling. Secondly, we get energy for our own needs. This is not only the transition to 'green energy', but also significant capital investments and jobs in the Vinnitsa region," Yury Kosyuk explained.

He also noted that the project implementation will be two-phased, and by 2020 it is supposed that the production capacity will grow to 20 MW. The project is realized as part of the Vinnitsa poultry complex expansion. Phase 1 — 460 tons of chicken manure are planned to be processed per day, phase 2 — doubling of recycling volumes. The approximate cost of the biocomplex is about USD 25 million.

Yury Kosyuk also mentioned the details of the second direction of the company's energy efficiency development.

"We are now implementing several solar energy projects on the territory of the complex. Our goal is to become energy-independent in 5-6 years," the businessman said.

According to him, the electricity production project has already started at the Vinnitsa poultry complex.

"Now the supply of solar panels is contracted. Completion of the project is planned in 2018," he said.

Answering the question from Latifundist.com whether that meant that MHP would supply not only meat to Ukrainians, but also green energy in the future, Yury Kosyuk replied:

"Today the land (landbank increase) is not the interesting business for me, but the 'green energy' is."

Earlier it was reported that the EBRD on November 29, 2017 will consider the issue of a loan of EUR 25 million to the company Myronivsky Hliboproduct. MHP is attracting a loan to finance the construction of a new biogas plant with the capacity of 10 MW in the Vinnitsa region.
