Astarta increased the quality of sugar

This season Astarta-Kyiv increased the share of first category sugar to 86% of total production (compared to 71% in the previous season). This is the result of company’s long-term investment strategy of sugar plants modernization.

In addition to sugar quality upgrade, sugar plants are also developing the energy efficiency: the average rate of gas consumption for the processing of 1 ton of sugar beet, the most expensive resource in the sugar industry, decreased by 6% y-o-y.

Two sugar plants of Astarta-Kyiv — Narkevусhi (Khmelnytsky region) and Zhdanivska (Vinnytsya region) — continue sugar beet processing. Six plants of the company, located in the Poltava and Kharkiv regions, have already completed the production season.

As of January 9th, more than 430 thousand tons of sugar, about 100 thousand tons of molasses and 40 thousand tons of granulated pulp were produced.

"The high yield of sugar beets in Astarta's farms in the Western regions of Ukraine has offset the decline of the harvesting in the East. That is why the plants in Khmelnytsky and Vinnytsya regions continue the production season. Also the volumes of sugar beet supply from partners have increased, since in cooperation with Astarta’s factories they get higher output and quality of sugar," the message says.
