The agri-industrial holding Astarta-Kyiv, the BrainBasket Foundation and Miratech company are expanding the educational project that provides residents of villages with a basic IT education in 5 regions of Ukraine.

The initiative is a continuation of the pilot project, which was launched last year.

Adults and schoolchildren of villages and towns of Poltava, Khmelnytsky, Vinnytsia, Kharkiv and Cherkassy regions can master IT skills. The children's course, which includes introduction and study of the Scratch programming environment, is designed for schoolchildren from 9 to 11 years old.

The training program lasts 3 months, and in the future it is planned to add a course on robotics and provide sites with robot sets for programming.

"It is important for us that IT-courses help to expand the opportunities for self-realization of people in the villages, to keep pace with the times because no industry can do without computer technology. Today, thanks to the project, the IT classes in the villages are not inferior to the urban ones, and sometimes even outstrip the level of the curriculum and equipment!" Svitlana Mozgova, Head of CSR at Astarta-Kyiv, comments.

Same as in the pilot project, each training group is engaged in a mixed format, which provides for independent work online and classroom practice with the teacher in equipped rooms.

Computer equipment for training is provided by Astarta, and Miratech provides technical support. Training is conducted on weekends.

Note: a pilot project on basic IT education was launched in October 2018 for adults and schoolchildren in the villages of Poltava region. Within its framework, 50 adults and 40 schoolchildren were trained.
