President Poroshenko supports the abolition of the moratorium on farmland sales

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko supports the abolition of the moratorium on the sale of agricultural land yet being in the political minority, UNIAN reports.

"The current moratorium on the sale of farmland holds investments in, inhibits the development of the agricultural market and deprives a significant number of Ukrainian citizens the opportunity to exercise the constitutional right to dispose of their land property. But even the decision of the European Court of Human Rights, which recognized that the absolute ban on the purchase and sale of agricultural land violates the European Convention on Human Rights, has not sobered our populists. Although standing on the positions of the Ukrainian Constitution and the European law, I am still in a political minority," stated the President.

The Head of the State noted that he will continue to make efforts to change the political situation.

"I will continue to exert my efforts to achieve a common economic sense in this matter. To solve this kind of problem, democracy requires time and strength, but the strength of persuasion. And, of course, it requires working with public opinion," stressed Petro Poroshenko.
