Mariupol and Berdyansk sea ports transshipped 1.7 MT of grain in Jul-Mar

Mariupol and Berdyansk seaports handled 1.7 million tons of grain crops in July-March, which corresponds to 4.6% of the total volume shipped from Ukraine. This was informed by the Head of Maritime Logistic company Anton Shapran in the framework of Grain & Maritime Days in Odessa, APK-Inform reports.

The share of shipment from the ports of the Azov region over the corresponding period last season was 3.7% (1.31 million tons), and in MY2015/16 — 3.5% (1.49 million tons).

According to him, almost all grain cargoes (98%) are delivered to the ports of this region by motor transport, and only a small part (2%) — by railroad. At the same time, grain is delivered to Odessa, Yuzhny and Chernomorsk sea ports mainly by railroad (89%), and only 11% of volume — by motor transport.

"Only Nikolaev and Kherson ports accept cargoes in three ways: 59% of grain is transported on the river, 26% by motor transport and 15% by grain hopper cars", the expert said.

Reference: in April 2018, 3.1 mln tons of main grain crops were exported from Ukraine's seaports, which is 10% less than the previous month (3.5 mln tons).
