Global grain trade volume in 2018/19 increases to 412 million tons
FАО projects that the global grain trade volume in MY 2018/19 should reach 412.1 million tons which is 0.6% more (2.5 million tons) than the previous forecast.
World trade in cereals is expected to remain generally robust in 2018/19. Wheat trade is seen exceeding the previous season’s level, but to still remain short of the peak registered in 2016/17.
"Global trade in coarse grains is forecast to hover around record levels, supported by strong import demand for corn, barley and sorghum. International trade in rice in both 2018 and 2019 is also predicted to remain close to the 2017 all-time record," the message writes.
Reference: sorghum exports in January-May 2018 amounted to 102.56 thou. tons. The produce was supplied for the amount of USD 15.64 million.
