Pork imports in Jan-June total 8.4k tons

In January-June, 2018, Ukraine imported 8,4 thou. tons of fresh, chilled and frozen pork (against 924 tons last year) with an aggregate value of USD 15.4 million.

The Association of Pig Breeders of Ukraine (APU) informs that the geography of the imported meat expanded — Brasil has appeared among the suppliers. Almost 56% of the supplies are from Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark.

Dutch suppliers are the leaders — more than 20% of imported pork. Denmark accounts for 19.4% of supplies against 15.5% in 2017, yet it almost equals with the Netherlands.

"Of course, Europe is the key supplier of pork to Ukraine. From last year, Canada exports pork to Ukraine as well. In January-April, the imported produce cost USD 1.77-2 per kg, in May — USD 1.68 per kg. Last month, the customs value varied between USD 1.66-1.68 per kg," specialists of the Analytical Department of the Association noted.

Reference: in 2018, prices for pork will continue to increase, but the appreciation rate is decreasing.
