Germany increased imports of Ukrainian grain sevenfold in Oct-Jun 2017/18

In October-June of MY2017/18, 255.7 thou. tons of Ukrainian corn were exported to Germany, which is 7.3 times more than the indicator for the corresponding period of the previous season (35 thou. tons), APK-Inform reports.

Given the reduction in the harvest of this crop in Germany, the volume of supplies of Ukrainian grain can grow.

The supply of wheat and barley to Germany was insignificant and in MY2017/18 fell to 16.3 thou. tons and 1.1 thou. tons, respectively. At the same time, organic wheat and barley supplies in MY2017/18 amounted to c.12 thou. tons and 1 thou. tons, respectively. Considering the development of organic farming in Ukraine, an upward trend in the volumes of export supplies is possible in the future.

Previously it was reported that since the start of MY2018/19, as of August 1, 2018, Ukraine exported 2.21 million tons of grain, which is 230 thou. tons less y-o-y.
