Shadow turnover of grain reaches 20%

20% of the Ukrainian grain market is in the shade. This was stated by Maxim Martynyuk, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, in the interview with Novoye Vremya.

"The AIC is one of the most efficient and profitable industries. And this is despite the fact that the official statistics is distorted and does not take into account the shadow turnover of agricultural products, which in the grain market alone reaches 20%," states Maxim Martynyuk.

According to the Deputy Minister, this is the reason why agricultural producers do not actively apply to banks for loans.

"On the one hand, it is difficult for them to show true financial reports required by banks, on the other hand, they are provided with cash," he stresses.

Maxim Martynyuk added that at the same time the potential for increasing efficiency is not exhaustive, in particular, for increasing the yield to the European level.
