Grain stocks in Ukraine lost 10%

According to the data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine (SSSU), as of September 1, 2018, stocks of grains and legumes in Ukraine are estimated at 20.99 million tons, which is 10.1% lower y-o-y (23.35 mln tons as of September 1, 2017).

UkrAgroConsult reports that the estimated volumes by crops are as follows:

  • wheat — 10.8% lower or 14.97 mln tons vs 16.78 mln tons as of August 1, 2017;
  • barley — 8.7% lower or 2.98 mln tons vs 3.26 mln tons as of August 1, 2017;
  • corn — 20.8% more and make up 1.94 mln tons vs 1.61 mln tons as of August 1, 2017.

As of September 26, 2018, the Ukrainian agrarians harvested 4.7 million tons of corn from an area of 830.000 hectares (18%) with the productivity of 5.67 tons/ha.
