Wheat stocks in Ukraine short by 12.5%

By the data of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, as of October 1, 2018, wheat stocks in Ukraine amounted to 12.27 million tons, whereas by the corresponding date of the previous year, the stocks equalled 14.03 million tons, graintrade.com.ua reports.

The agricultural enterprises store 7.37 million tons of wheat while storing and processing facilities provide for the storage of 4.9 million tons vs 6 million tons as of September 1.

As of October 1, agrarians harvested 25 million tons of wheat from 6.56 million hectares, which is 6.2% less than over the corresponding period in 2017. As of October 17, Ukraine exported 7 million tons of wheat, which is almost the same as the previous year's level.

It is noted that the domestic market demand for milling wheat is 4.5 million tons.

Previously it was reported that wheat shipments since the beginning of MY2018/19, by October 24, 2018, had reached 7.09 million tons, which is 598 thou. tons less compared to the corresponding period last year.
