Astarta-Kyiv consumes 100 mcm of gas annually

The annual demand for natural gas of the Astarta-Kyiv enterprises is approximately 100 million m³. This was informed by Roman Kravets, Head of Procurement of the agro-industrial holding, expro.com.ua writes.

“This need is formed both by sugar factories and by holding elevators. Accordingly, the seasonality in consumption is limited to August-December, with maximum values in October and November. If in 2016 the largest volume we purchased during the season of consumption, then this year 80% was purchased in early autumn, and the rest was contracted through forward contracts,” he commented.

Astarta-Kyiv procures gas from large mining companies and the largest traders in Ukraine who have undergone internal compliance procedures.

“When purchasing natural gas, we optimize not only the purchase period but also the way. If in the previous years we bought 100% of the volume on a so-called spot basis, then this year a certain volume was bought under a forward contract,” added Roman Kravets.

Previously it was reported that Astarta-Kyiv reduced its net profit to EUR 14.5 million or by 80% y-o-y.
