Mriya Agroholding potentially the key potato producer in Ukraine

In 2019, Mriya Agroholding may become one of the key producers of potato in Ukraine. This was informed by the CEO of the agroholding Simon Cherniavsky in the framework of the Saudi – Ukraine Agribusiness Investment Forum organized by the investment company SALIC in Kyiv.

“SALIC holds high positions in potato production in the world. I think that the joint organization will be one of the largest potato producers in Ukraine. We don’t yet know the exact area, perhaps between 1 to 3 thou. hectares,” Simon Cherniavsky said.

He also noted that the two companies are now merging into one, and together they plan to increase the profitability of production and efficiency.

“The merging process is underway. We will invest substantial funds in the capitalization of Mriya since it has not had sufficient resources for a long time. Investments will be made in technology, infrastructure, technology, fertilizer, protection and genetics. The production technology is very close to the technology of Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Co. (SALIC),” the CEO added.

Mriya Farming PLC (UK) and SALIC UK Ltd (Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company, United Kingdom) completed the deal for the sale to SALIC of a majority of the Mriya group`s Ukrainian farming assets, including infrastructure facilities, machinery, and companies holding land lease agreements.

The transaction was closed following the approval from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU). The value and terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
