Ukrainian seaports quarter reduced grain shipment
In the period of May 18-24, grain shipment from the Ukrainian seaports stood at 757 thou. tons, 26 per cent lower from the previous week (1,02 million tons), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.
Shipments of wheat reduced to 48 thou. tons vs. 234 thou. tons in the prior week. Barley was exported in the amount of 23 thou. tons vs. 109 in the previous week. Corn exports increased 2 per cent to 686 thou. tons.
The top-3 importers of grain in the reporting period are Iran (131 thou. tons), China (116 thou. tons) and Spain (90 thou. tons).
The leading position in terms of the transshipment volume of main crops in the current marketing year is held by the port of Mykolaiv (11,6 million tons). The ports of Chernomorsk and Pivdenny (Yuzhny) provided for the transshipment of 10,4 million tons and 8.3 million tons, respectively.
In the current season, the grain harvest in Ukraine may grow to 70.8 million tons provided there are favourable weather conditions.
